CanXpro was developed through the desire to see the potential of Canadian Ag products recognized on a global scale. Our patented solution was developed at the University of Saskatchewan to deliver the highest quality and environmentally responsible protein.
CanXpro co-founder, Dr. Bishnu Acharya (PhD) of the University of Saskatchewan’s (USask) has been awarded the prestigious Mitacs Innovation Award, for his research into turning canola, oat and flax waste into feed for microbes, nutritional food additives and sustainable packaging.With over 15 years of experience in the circular bioeconomy, his work focuses on creating value from agricultural by-products and bio-waste.His research centers on designing and developing efficient processes for extracting and converting high-value compounds such as proteins, cellulose nanocrystals (CNC), lignin, hemicellulose, and microbial metabolites (including alcohols, lactic acid, PHA/biopolymers, PUFAs, VFAs, and others).
CanXpro co-founder, Nirpesh Dhakal Ph.D. Holds a background in Engineering Biotechnology with over 10 years of experience in biomass extraction and microbial processing. Expertise includes biomass pretreatment, hydrolysis, extraction, purification, and polishing. he has successfully designed and implemented a variety of processing methods involving solvent-based, chemical, thermal/thermo-chemical, and biocatalyst-driven extraction. Additionally, an expert in both upstream and downstream microbial processing, with a strong and practical understanding of microbial nutrition.
